UW-Eau Claire forensics team takes second at Twin Cities tournament

RELEASED: Dec. 9, 2011

EAU CLAIRE —The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team recently took second place in team sweepstakes at the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament, hosted by Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn.
Individual results are as follows:

  • Junior Megan Chilman, Le Sueur, Minn., placed fourth in dramatic interpretation and fifth in informative speaking, qualifying her for the National Forensic Association tournament this spring.

  • Sophomore Alexandra Lawler, Savage, Minn., placed fourth in informative speaking, qualifying her for the NFA tournament. She also placed second in program oral interpretation, qualifying her for the American Forensic Association tournament this spring.

  • Sophomore Stephen Fong, Milwaukee, placed second in persuasive speaking, qualifying him for the NFA tournament. He also placed first in rhetorical criticism.

  • Freshman Jake Stendahl, Forest Lake, Minn., placed fourth in poetry speaking and first in prose interpretation, qualifying him for the AFA tournament.

  • Senior Kindra Kressin, Champion, Neb., placed first in poetry speaking and first in program oral interpretation.

The team will continue traveling to competitions in early January when it attends the "Hell Froze Over" tournament in Austin, Texas, which will be hosted by the University of Texas at Austin and Bradley University.
