UW-Eau Claire footbridge to close
temporarily Aug. 27

RELEASED: Aug. 24, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire footbridge over the Chippewa River will close temporarily Saturday, Aug. 27, from 7 a.m. to approximately noon for line painting and sealant application.

Repairs to the bridge's deck surface and a support pier beneath the water line began in mid-May and were originally scheduled to be completed in July. Project delays resulted in deck surface work continuing through Aug. 26.

Not all scheduled work on the bridge has been completed, including repairs to the support pier beneath the water line. That work will continue into the fall, while remaining repairs to the deck surface will be performed in spring 2012.

The $206,000 state-funded repair project is being overseen by the Wisconsin Division of State Facilities. Drax Inc., Madison, is the primary contractor for the project.
