RELEASED: Aug. 22, 2011

FFR

EAU CLAIRE — Fools For Rowan, an alternative rock indie group from Nashville, Tenn., will headline a free outdoor concert Sept. 9 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Midwest indie-pop trio Porcupine will be the special guest group at the show, which will begin at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall (rain site: Council Fire Room, Davies Center).

Fools For Rowan hales from the same hometown as Kings of Leon and Paramore and is sometimes compared to those two worldwide fan favorites. After releasing its debut CD in 2009, Fools For Rowan toured coast to coast opening for rock heavyweights Halestorm, Sick Puppies, Trapt and Adelitas Way, and played a Fourth of July show at Milwaukee's Summerfest. Known for its hyper-energetic live show, the band currently is wrapping up a nationwide tour.

Led by lead singer Erin Mullins, Fools For Rowan is composed of Rachel Brandsness (lead guitar), Jordan Cullen (drums), Aaron Elliott (bass) and Ryan Nanny (rhythm guitar).

Porcupine is made up of Casey Virock (guitar, vocals), David Reinders (bass) and Jeffrey Bahr (drums, backing vocals). The group released its debut CD, "The Trouble with You," in 2009 and has been recording its second album this summer.

Sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate, the free concert is open to all ages.
