Springfest lineup announced

Springfest posterRELEASED: April 29, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced the performance schedule for Springfest, the annual campus celebration of music and spring to be presented May 9-13. The free festival on the Central Campus Mall (rain site The Cabin of Davies Center) will run from noon-1 p.m. each day.

  • May 9: Basic Physics, a mashup/DJ duo that flavors the electronic/hip hop music scene while adding in creative samples from multiple genres of music. Founded in 2010, Basic Physics is the creation of Madison DJ-producer Alex Syse and Minneapolis DJ Eric Mitchell.

  • May 10: Wisconsin Built, Eric Charles Christenson's minimalist indie-alternative folk group based in Eau Claire.

  • May 11: Walk a Mile, an alternative-rock band from the forests of upper-peninsula Michigan.

  • May 12: Stoop Singers, an old-time string duo that plays fiddle tunes and original arrangements of early American songs. Jessi Lee McIntosh (fiddle, guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Shane Leonard (banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, vocals) met in 2007 at a friend's Hanukkah party and bonded over a shared interest in bluegrass music.

  • May 13: Black$heep, an on-the-rise alternative-indie-funk-rock group from the Stevens Point area.

The University Activities Commission of the Student Senate sponsors Springfest, a campus tradition since 1986.
