EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host a guest artist recital featuring violinist Dr. Scott Conklin and pianist Dr. Alan Huckleberry at 7:30 p.m. May 2 in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Conklin regularly appears as a soloist, orchestral player and recitalist throughout the U.S. and abroad and is an advocate of new music. His contemporary album of American compositions recorded with Huckleberry was released to critical acclaim, and the two recently returned from a concert tour of Germany. Conklin and Huckleberry are faculty members at the University of Iowa School of Music.

The concert will feature a combination of classical and new music, with pieces such as Beethoven's "Spring Sonata in F Major, Op.24" and Kevin Beavers' "Groov from Sonata for Violin and Piano," composed in 1995. "Passages" by Dr. Ethan Wickman, assistant professor of music at UW-Eau Claire, also will be performed.

This event is free and open to the public.
