Tip Sheet for the week of Homecoming 2010

The following 2010 Homecoming events may provide story and/or photo opportunities this week:

Tuesday, Sept. 28

  • Sand sculpture building, 4-5 p.m., behind Putnam Hall.

Wednesday, Sept. 29

  • Upper campus games, 4-4:45 p.m., Towers Field. Games include three-legged sack race, tug-of-war, water balloon toss and toilet paper roll.
  • Snake Dance, 6:45 p.m. Students will meet at the base of the hill on campus.
  • Yell-Like-Hell competition and pep rally, 7 p.m., Zorn Arena.

Thursday, Sept. 30

  • Lower campus games, 4-6 p.m., Central Campus Mall. Games include the human knot, human pyramid, obstacle relay, tricycle race and Frisbee golf.

Friday, Oct. 1

  • Golden Blugolds reception, 4:30 p.m., The Dulany, Davies Center. Alumni who graduated in 1960 or earlier will attend the event, hosted by Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich.
  • Homecoming Court reception, 5:30 p.m., Presidents Room, Davies Center.
  • "Varsity Night Live!" 7 p.m., Zorn Arena. The talent show will feature UW-Eau Claire students and comedian KT Tatara. The coronation of Homecoming royalty will follow the show.

Saturday, Oct. 2

  • Golden Blugolds — those who graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1960 or earlier — will gather before the Homecoming parade and ride together in the parade.
  • Homecoming parade, 10 a.m. The parade will begin at Grand and First avenues, proceed south to Water Street, turn down Water Street and end at Second Avenue. The Blugold Marching Band, conducted by Dr. Randal Dickerson, will lead the parade. Dr. April Bleske-Recheck, professor of psychology and recipient of the 2010 Excellence in Teaching Award, will be grand marshal.
  • Blugold Fever Fest, 11 a.m., Carson Park. The traditional alumni pregame Homecoming festival will feature music, food and beverage tents. The Blugold Marching Band will perform.
  • Homecoming football game, 1 p.m., Carson Park. The Blugolds will play the UW-Stevens Point Pointers.
  • Kell Blugold Burger Fifth Quarter Tailgate Party, 4 p.m., Carson Park. The free event will follow the football game. The Blugold Marching Band will lead fans to the event. Music will be provided by the local band Home Grown Tomatoes.

Sunday, Oct. 3

  • Annual Soccer Alumni Game, noon, Stein Blvd. and MacArthur Field.
  • Adopt-a-Block neighborhood cleanup, 1 p.m., Water Street parking lot. Homecoming activities will culminate in the annual cleanup Sunday afternoon. Student teams will spread out over the Historic Randall Park neighborhood to pick up any litter left from the weekend festivities.
