Musical events for the week of Oct. 3

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Oct. 3. All events are free and open to the public.

Monday, Oct. 4:

  • Junior Will Horn, Eagan, Minn., will present a trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted on piano by Anne Kubiatowicz, Horn will present selections by Eugene Bozza, Johannes Brahms, Daniel Schnyder, Nick Woud and Delfeayo Marsalis. The performance also will feature Horn's own arrangement of Duke Ellington's "Just Squeeze Me." For this piece, he will be assisted on piano by senior Aaron Hedenstrom, on bass by senior Andy Detra and on drums by junior Jared Mondlock.

Tuesday, Oct. 5:

  • The Iowa Reed Trio will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The trio is composed of University of Iowa faculty members Dr. Andrew Parker, assistant professor of oboe; Maurita Murphy Mead, professor of clarinet; and Benjamin Coelho, professor of bassoon. The performance will include selections by Jaques Ibert, Flegier/Voxman, Noel-Gallon and others.
  • A student voice area recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Students will perform various selections by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss and others.

Thursday, Oct. 7:

  • Senior Nicole Brellenthin, Burnsville, Minn., will present her senior degree trombone recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
