Run/walk for alcohol awareness slated for Sept. 25

RELEASED: Sept. 15, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — A run/walk for alcohol awareness will be hosted Sept. 25 by the Center for Alcohol Studies and Education at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. "The Saving Race" will begin at 10 a.m. in the Haas Fine Arts parking lot on Water Street and follow the Putnam Park trail. The event includes a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile family run/walk. Participants are encouraged to dress as superheroes for a chance to win a prize for best costume.

Advance registration is due in the CASE office, Room 30, Schofield Hall, by 10 a.m. Sept. 20.

The event marks the end of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week at UW-Eau Claire. CASE, which is an organization made up of staff and students who wish to reduce high-risk drinking and inform about its consequences, will be using all proceeds to support peer education and programming. The event honors former UW-Eau Claire student Michael Noll and others who have died in alcohol-related incidents.

For more information, visit the CASE website, e-mail case@uwec.edu or call 715-836-5110.
