Musical events for the week of Sept. 19

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Sunday, Sept. 19. All events are free and open to the public.

Sunday, Sept. 19:

  • A faculty chamber music recital will be held at 2 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The performance will feature Dr. Richard Fletcher, professor of music, on clarinet; Dr. Nicholas Phillips, assistant professor of music, on piano; and Paul Kosower, professor emeritus of music, on cello. The recital will include selections by Ludwig Van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms.
  • Dr. Phillip Ostrander, associate professor of music, will present a trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted on piano by Dr. Barbara Young, lecturer of music, Ostrander will perform selections by Brian Lynn, Richard Peaslee, Alec Wilder, Dana Wilson and Jean-Michel Defaye.

Monday, Sept. 20:

  • Dr. Owen Lovell, assistant professor of music, will present a piano recital with guest violinist Lynn Ledbetter at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Lovell and Ledbetter will present selections by Prokofiev, Schubert, Franck and a piece by Dr. Ethan Wickman, assistant professor of music.
