'Blugolds Forever' pep rally set for Sept. 3

EAU CLAIRE — Students, faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, as well as the general public, are invited to a "Blugolds Forever" pep rally at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 3 on the university's Central Campus Mall.

The rally will be held in advance of the Blugold football team's first regular season game, against the McKenzie, Tenn., Bethel University Wildcats, at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 in Carson Park.

The Blugold Marching Band will perform and 500 free T-shirts will be distributed at the event. Todd Glaser, head football coach, will speak and those attending will be able to meet several of the Blugold football players. Drawings will be held for signed Blugold football jerseys. A DJ, trivia contest and performance by the university's Cheer and Stunt Team also are planned.

In addition to kicking off the football team's season, the event, sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association and UW-Eau Claire Foundation, is a welcome to new and returning students, said John Bachmeier, alumni relations director.

"They're Blugolds now, they're Blugolds forever, and this is a celebration of that," he said.
