Human trafficking presentation scheduled for Oct. 11

RELEASED: Oct. 8, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — The Ministry/Common Ground, a student organization at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, will sponsor a presentation and discussion of human trafficking at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Potawatomi Room of Davies Center.

The presentation, titled "Hagar International — Helping to Heal Victims of Human Trafficking and Abuse," will explore Hagar's Christian mission, the factors that create an environment where trafficking and abuse thrives and Hagar's holistic approach to recovery.

Hagar International is a Christian organization that works to restore the lives of women and children who have been victims of human rights abuse in Afghanistan, Vietnam and Cambodia. Hagar serves women and children who have been physically abused, trafficked into the sex industry and sold as domestic servants.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is targeted for individuals interested in social justice issues.
