Clean Commute Initiative announces second annual Tour de Chancellor

RELEASED: Oct. 7, 2010

biking logoEAU CLAIRE — The Clean Commute Initiative at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites area bicyclists who support clean commuting to participate Oct. 10 in a group bicycle ride with Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich.

The second annual Tour de Chancellor — a 20-mile, informal, noncompetitive ride — will start at 10 a.m. It will begin and end, rain or shine, at UW-Eau Claire's Schofield Hall circle parking lot on Garfield Avenue.

Those wishing to participate should RSVP online by 10 a.m. Oct. 9. The event will be limited to 50 participants.

Suggested donations for the ride are $10 for the general public and $5 for UW-Eau Claire students. Proceeds will be used to improve bicycle parking on campus.

Riders will follow a route around Eau Claire using a mix of bike trails and city streets. There will be a rest stop at the chancellor's home for pie and hot beverages, and riders will then retrace their route back to campus.

For more information, contact Dr. Doug Faulkner at 715-836-5166 or faulkndj@uwec.edu.
