Musical events for the week of Oct. 10

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Sunday, Oct. 10. All events are free and open to the public.

Sunday, Oct. 10:

  • Guest artist Rob Auler will present a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Auler will present selections by Felix Mendelssohn, Frederic Chopin and Franz Liszt. Auler also will perform a "20th-Century American Grab Bag," with selections by Carter Pann, Rudolf Haken and Jonathan Pieslak.

Monday, Oct. 11:

  • Seniors Andrew Bader, Green Bay, and Andy Rosevold, Princeton, Minn., will present a joint trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Bader and Rosevold will present selections by Charles Small, Tommy Pederson, Tommy Dorsey, Harry Woods and Michael Davis.

Tuesday, Oct. 12:

  • Junior Sarah Kubiatowicz, Eau Claire, will present an oboe recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted on piano by senior Samuel Emmons, Kubiatowicz will perform pieces by George Friedrich Handel, Francis Poulenc, Vincent Persichetti and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Wednesday, Oct. 13:

  • Dr. Mitra Sadeghpour, associate professor of music, and seniors Jonas Hacker, Lake Delton, and Erin Kenneavy, Appleton, will present a joint voice recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
  • Senior Aaron Hedenstrom, St. Paul, Minn., will present his composition degree recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will highlight Hedenstrom's achievements in musical composition. Music students will perform several of Hedenstrom's original pieces including "Send My Regards to Charlie," "Release," "Ambience #1" and "Turek's Piece."

Thursday, Oct. 14:

  • Senior Bryce Bielec, Burnsville, Minn., will present a trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Bielec will perform selections by Gabriel Faur, Mark Phillips, Michael Davis and others.
  • Dr. Jeffery Crowell, associate professor of music, will perform a recital of solo and chamber percussion works featuring guest artist Alex Stopa at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
  • Guest artist David Barton will present a composition and electronic music recital at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted by Boyd Nutting, Barton will present a music and video performance of "The Pentacle Garden" and "Mutant Manikins."
