RELEASED: Oct. 1, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — An Oct. 16 entertainment showcase featuring comedians Chad Taylor and Tracey Ashley will highlight Parents Weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Doors will open at 8 p.m. for the show in Zorn Arena.

There's only one thing more entertaining than a madman juggling roaring chain saws, and that's when he drops one. Put on your safety goggles and move back a few rows to enjoy Mad Chad Taylor, the Evel Kneivel of comedy.

"If you really want people to put two hands together, you gotta be willing to risk one of your own," Taylor says.

A product of Dogtown, U.S.A., Taylor started juggling at age 13 on the Venice Beach boardwalk. The Guinness World Record holder has juggled everything from active video cameras to bowling balls that he can catch with his head. He has cut it up on variety shows ranging from "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to "Last Call with Carson Daly." On "The Donny and Marie Show," he kept himself from falling off his unicycle by leaning on Marie Osmond's hair.

Performing his show before sold-out crowds at performing arts centers, Taylor has implored college audiences to throw knives responsibly, and has taught Fortune 500 executives to multitask using heavy-duty logging tools.

Tracey Ashley is a comedy club favorite who earned a prestigious nomination by Campus Activities Magazine as Best Female Performer in 2008.

Ashley has always known that she wanted to make people laugh. She has shared her stories of growing up in the South, her woes and celebrations and the weird happenings of her life across the country in theaters, comedy clubs, colleges and corporate events. A semifinalist on NBC-TV's "Last Comic Standing" in 2007, she is featured on the tracklist of "The Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival — Best of 2009" (2010), sold exclusively on iTunes.

Tickets are $7 for the public or $5 for UW-Eau Claire Blugold Card holders and their families and guests. Tickets are available at the Service Center in Davies Center's east lobby and will be sold at the door.

Tickets may be charged to MasterCard, Visa or Discover when ordered by phone. Call 715-836-3727 — or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free 800-949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee is added to all telephone charge orders.

Open to all ages, the Parents Weekend entertainment showcase is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
