Registration for Alternative Spring Break
begins Dec. 1

EAU CLAIRE — The Activities and Programs office at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will sponsor the 2011 Alternative Spring Break trip, "From Servant Leadership to Social Justice," to Indianapolis, Ind., for the second consecutive year.

The trip is an opportunity for students to explore the concepts of servant leadership and social justice, specifically around the issues of poverty, homelessness and socioeconomic status. Students will engage in hands-on service projects and will discuss issues of servant leadership and social justice with Indianapolis organization leaders.

Alternative Spring Break partner sites include the Robert K. Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, the Estridge Company, Circle of Sisterhood Foundation, Wheeler Mission Ministries, Rebuilding the Wall and Cathedral Kitchens.

The trip will run from March 19-24. The cost is $375, which includes lodging, transportation, meals, all group activities and required readings. Registration begins Dec. 1 in the Activities and Programs office, Room 133 of Davies Center. The trip is limited to the first 20 students. A nonrefundable $100 deposit is due at the time of registration, with the remaining balance due Feb. 11.
