Jazz Ensemble III to perform Nov. 23

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble III will perform its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Jazz Ensemble III, under the direction of Dr. Jeffery Crowell, associate professor of music, will begin the first set with Latin jazz selections. The ensemble will begin with A.K. Salim's "Cannonology," "Bilongo" by Guillermo Rodriguez Fiffe and Junior Cepeda's "Quimbara." Next will be "Latin Dream" by Joe d'Etienne, and "Conversation" by A.K. Salim. The first half of the concert will conclude with "Rompe Cabezas" by Matt Harris.

The second half of the performance will begin with Greg Kehl Moore's "Tubs of Slaw," followed by "If I Had You" by Irving King and Ted Shapiro, and "Let's Eat Cactus" by Gordon Goodwin. The group will conclude its performance with "Children's Hour of Dream" by Charles Mingus and "Hot Monkey Love" by Gordon Goodwin.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
