Communications professionals to receive six awards from CASE V

CASE logoEAU CLAIRE —University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire advancement and communications staff members will receive six awards at the 2010 Council for Advancement and Support of Education Great Lakes District V conference to be held Dec. 12-14 in Chicago, Ill.

UW-Eau Claire will be one of the more than 60 institutions honored at the conference. A total of 134 awards will be presented to CASE V members.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., CASE is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications and development.

CASE District V includes 400 member institutions in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. The awards competition honors advancement and communications professionals in 49 categories. Judging for the competition is conducted by advancement professionals outside of the Great Lakes district.

Gold Award winners were:

  • Teresa Du Bois Exline Award for Best Practices in Communication and Marketing: Mari Jo Janke, director of the Publications office; Mike Rindo, executive director of University Communications and special assistant to the chancellor; Debra Lang, program assistant for the Office of the Chancellor; Ansel Brooks, senior artist, Publications office; Sheila Pederson, senior artist, Publications office; Mindy Merryfield, artist, Publications office; all for "Transforming our Future."
  • Excellence in Design, Individual Poster: Brooks, for "Help for Haiti Poster."
  • Excellence in Photography, Sports: Bill Hoepner, digital asset manager/photography, Learning and Technology Services, for "Swim Team."

Silver Award winners were:

  • Teresa Du Bois Exline Award for Best Practices in Communication and Marketing: Bonnie Krahn, graphic artist, College of Business; and Gretchen Hutterli, assistant dean for external affairs, College of Business; for "Army ROTC."

Bronze Award winners were:

  • Best Alumni Program, Corporate Connections Programs: John Bachmeier, director of Alumni Relations; and Jane Larson, program assistant for Alumni Relations.
  • Best Graphic Identity/Logo: Jodi Baglien Sparkes, Publications office/Continuing Education, for "Connected Learning Logo."
