EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire received eight graphics awards at the Association of College Unions International regional conference Nov. 5-6 at Valparaiso University, in Valparaiso, Ind.
The awards recognize the work of graphic design coordinator Sara Brunner and student graphic designer Amanda Obenhoffer, both employed in the University Centers information design services area.
Brunner received five first-place awards in the professional division — for the one-color poster and T-shirt for the University Centers' benefit concert for Haiti earthquake relief; for the Summer Events 2010 brochure and promotional campaign; and for the full-color poster for The Forum presentation by Seth Shostak. Her promotional campaign for this season's Forum and Artists Series took second place.
Brunner received a bachelor's degree in graphic design from UW-Eau Claire in May 2007. She joined the information design staff in September 2008.
Obenhoffer's four-color posters for the International Film Society placed first ("Dead Snow") and third ("Big Man Japan") in the student division. A candidate for a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design in December, she received a BFA in photography from UW-Eau Claire in May 2006. Obenhoffer, of Eau Claire, began working in the University Centers in June 2009.
A Student Affairs unit of UW-Eau Claire, the University Centers is a longtime member of ACUI. ACUI Region 8 comprises colleges and universities throughout Wisconsin, the upper peninsula of Michigan and the Chicago, Ill., metropolitan area.
