Concert Choir to perform Nov. 14

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, professor of music, will perform a fall concert at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The performance will be highlighted by the premiere of "O Great Mystery!" by Dr. Ethan Wickman, assistant professor of music — a piece he dedicated to the Concert Choir. Other selections include Jan Pieterszwoon Sweelinck's "Venite, Exultemus Domino," "Search Me and Know My Heart" by James Fritschel, Alexander Gretchaninoff's "Our Father," "Caritas et Amor" by Z. Randall Stroope and Johannes Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzer, Op. 52.

Impromptu, a mixed voice a cappella group, will then present "Vehicle," arranged by junior Evan Wilberg, Anoka, Minn., and "I Have Loved You Wrong" and "Bring Night" arranged by junior Jessica McIlquham, Chippewa Falls.

Concert Choir's final set will include Bob Chilcott's "The Lily and the Rose," "Véniki" by Feodosy Rubstov, "Kasar Mie La Gaji" by Alberto Grau and René Clausen's "Prayer." The group will conclude with Moses Hogan's arrangement of the African-American folk song "Elijah Rock."

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $6 for the public; $4 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
