EAU CLAIRE — Minneapolis-based Tooth & Nail recording artist Hyland will headline a Nov. 19 concert at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire that will benefit the hungry in the Chippewa Valley. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the concert that closes this year's Feed the Need benefit series. The show begins at 7 p.m. in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.

Hyland is a Christian-rock group that won the Club 3 Degrees music tournament and recently signed with Seattle's Tooth & Nail Records. The band features dynamic guitar work, soaring melodies, clever piano hooks and a driven rock sound reminiscent of the Foo Fighters and Sanctus Real. Hyland's 2009 EP, "Quotients," was recorded with Ben Kasica of Skillet and Nick Rad of Acceptance. The band's full-length release will debut in the spring, with radio play beginning in February.

The concert will also feature three Eau Claire bands: Survive the Drive (alt-rock), The Last Semester (rock-pop-alternative) and The Rebel Love (rock-powerpop-gospel).

Feed the Need is an annual benefit series that aims to raise hunger awareness and funds to feed needy families in western Wisconsin. The benefit was founded in 2009 by Sean Jones, lead singer of Survive the Drive, as a way of using his talents as a catalyst for positive change by making a tangible difference to individuals in his local region. Feed the Need events feature various artists performing in Eau Claire and western Wisconsin, and range from concerts and car washes to a haunted house and hot chocolate stands.

Proceeds and additional donations go to Feed My People Food Bank and are matched times 10. Feed My People Food Bank helps senior citizens, single parents, the working poor, the homeless, the mentally ill and others in need throughout the Chippewa Valley. Last year, Feed the Need raised enough funds to feed more than 1,000 needy families for Thanksgiving.

Tickets are $5 in advance at the Service Center (715-836-3727) in Davies Center and will be $7 at the door. The show is open to all ages.

Patrons may charge their tickets to MasterCard, Visa or Discover when ordering by phone. Call 715-836-3727 — or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free 800-949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee will be added to all telephone charge orders.

The concert is presented by Glitterati Guild and hosted by the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate.
