Four UW-Eau Claire classified staff members announce retirements

EAU CLAIRE — Four members of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's classified staff have announced they have retired or will retire soon.

André Gibault, a custodian in Facilities Planning and Management, will retire in May after 35 years of service. He began working in the university's food service area in 1975 and moved into a custodial position in 1976. Gibault was in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 26 years, retiring as a petty officer first class in 1991. He created the André and Joanne Gibault Blugold Spirit Award in celebration of the life of the late UW-Eau Claire student Anne O'Brien.

Pamela Scheible, university services program associate in Registration Services, will retire in May after 35 years of service. She began her career at UW-Eau Claire in 1975 as a veteran's liaison clerk and has supported the director of Registration Services since 1977.

Rhonda Stokes, university services program associate in the Educational Opportunity Center, will retire in August after 25 years of service. She previously worked in positions in Continuing Education and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Stokes was the recipient of the Student Development and Diversity staff "Achieving Excellence Award" in 2006. Prior to joining UW-Eau Claire, she worked for the state of Wisconsin's Vocational Rehabilitation program and Division of Community Corrections, Probation and Parole.

Richard Young, custodial supervisor in Facilities Planning and Management, will retire in May after 26 years of service. He joined the staff in 1984 as a custodian, became lead custodian in 1986 and has served as a supervisor since 1987. Young has served on the Counseling Services Advisory Committee. Prior to joining UW-Eau Claire he worked at Automotive Machine Works in Eau Claire and served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-70.
