EAU CLAIRE — Paula Stuettgen, senior coordinator for assessment and special projects at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, was named Humanitarian of the Year by the Eau Claire County Humane Association at its annual recognition banquet April 28.

According to ECCHA executive director Lauren Evans, the award is the association's highest honor. Stuettgen has been a community volunteer since she was in high school and, because of her lifelong love of animals, became involved with ECCHA seven years ago.

"Service to the Eau Claire County Humane Association and all the other area organizations that work with animal welfare has brought me incredible satisfaction and joy," said Stuettgen. "I am deeply moved and humbled by this recognition."

Stuettgen has served on the ECCHA fundraising committee since 2002 and recently completed a six-year term on the organization's board of directors, serving five of those years as president.

"Throughout her years with ECCHA she has been actively involved in almost every fundraising event, often being designated as the lead person at events such as our silent auction and the Holiday Bazaar," said Evans. "She truly believes in our mission.

"Paula's service to ECCHA has been so beneficial, and without her our organization might not be where it is today."
