Supervisory management workshops to be offered

RELEASED: March 26, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate Program in April and May. Designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, workshops may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements. All programs will meet from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire. The workshops are:

  • April 8 and 9, "Managing Projects and Project Teams." Topics include how to run efficient team meetings, long-range project planning techniques, systems for organizing multiple projects, generating project "buy in," enlisting power brokers for project support, solving unexpected problems and strategies for handling crisis situations.
  • April 29 and 30, "Supervisory Management 2." Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, time management, delegating and employee development.
  • May 20 and 21, "Dealing with Conflict." Topics include the conflict process, frequent causes of organizational conflict, how to diagnosis the root causes of impasse, and how to productively manage conflict.

The individual course fee is $425 per person and includes lunch, materials and instruction. The group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same company who attend the same session and register at the same time. The series fee is $1,125 per person for those who register for Supervisory Management 1, 2 and 3 at the same time.
