Still time to register for fly fishing workshop

RELEASED: March 18, 2010

fly fishing imageEAU CLAIRE — There is still time to register for the two-part "Introduction to Fly Fishing" workshop sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Environmental Adventure Center and the Wisconsin Clear Waters Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

The workshops will be held from 4-7 p.m. April 5 in the EAC, located in the basement of Hilltop Center, and 4 p.m. until dark April 7 along the Chippewa River near Haas Fine Arts Center.

Participants will learn the basics of fly fishing — become familiar with equipment, learn to cast and tie basic flies, and practice fishing on the river. The workshop also will include discussions on conservation and healthy stream habits.

Participants are responsible for acquiring a Wisconsin Fishing License but all other necessary equipment will be provided. The fee is $10 for students and $15 for faculty and staff. The fee also includes a membership in the local chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Those interested can sign up in the EAC during normal hours as posted on the center's Web site. For more information, contact Dan Langlois at 715-836-3616 or langlodt@uwec.edu.
