EAU CLAIRE — Dr. CeCelia Zorn, professor of nursing systems at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, recently had her first book published.

Zorn's book, "Becoming a Nurse Educator: Dialogue for an Engaging Career," focuses on nursing education and faculty experiences.

Zorn said it took nearly two years to write the book, although the "big-picture" process had been evolving throughout her career.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed the journey of making this happen," she said. "I must add that I could not have done it without the help of several colleague-friends and family encouragement."

Zorn said she felt challenged making ideas connect "while speaking to the reader in the process of creating linkages and patterns."

Although Zorn said having one's work in print is satisfying, what is most rewarding for her is hearing feedback from readers that the book is helpful or interesting. Zorn mentioned an e-mail she received from a teacher who initially chose the book as a review copy for a class, but found herself picking up and reading the book herself several times.

"This is what makes me proud," Zorn said.

Zorn has taught at UW-Eau Claire since 1980. She was named the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching Wisconsin Professor of the Year in 2002.
