Swimming and diving team to offer lessons for all ages, abilities

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving team will hold swimming and diving lessons April 5-22 and April 26-May 13 for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Lessons will be held in the McPhee Physical Education Center pool.
Times and lesson descriptions are as follows:
Mondays and Wednesdays:
- Sea Turtles: 5-5:30 p.m. — For swimmers with little or no experience.
- Parent/Child: 5:30-6 p.m. — Orienting children and their parents to the water.
- Star Fish: 5-5:50 p.m. — Recommended for swimmers who are already able to put their face in the water, kick independently with a kickboard and hold front and back floats for five seconds.
- Sea Horses: 5-5:50 p.m. — Recommended for swimmers who are able to do front and back glides, whip kicks, dolphin kicks, rotary breathing and elementary backstroke.
- Sharks: 6-6:50 p.m. — Recommended for swimmers who are able to do 25 yard front and back crawl, breaststroke, 15 yard elementary backstroke, dolphin kick, open turns, diving and treading.
- Competitive Skills: 6-6:50 p.m. — For those swimmers who want to refine skills and learn new skills necessary for competitive swimming.
- Adult Lessons: 6-6:50 p.m. — Tailored to each swimmer's individual needs, from beginners to master swimmers.
Tuesdays and Thursdays:
- Sharks: 4-4:50 p.m.
- Competitive Skills: 4-4:50 p.m.
- Adult lessons: 4-4:50 p.m.
- Sea Turtles: 5-5:30 p.m.
- Parent/Child: 5:30-6 p.m.
- Star Fish: 5-5:50 p.m.
- Sea Horses: 5-5:50 p.m.
Those interested are asked to register for the first session by April 1 and for the second session by April 23 by calling 715-836-2546 or e-mailing normant@uwec.edu. The cost is $40 and all proceeds benefit the UW-Eau Claire swimming and diving team.
