Students encouraged to apply for job-shadow event with campus administrators

RELEASED: March 10, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire chapter of Mortar Board, the national leadership honor society, is planning a two-day inaugural event dedicated to leadership.

Leadership in Action Day, to be held April 13 and 14, will pair students and administrators at UW-Eau Claire. Students will job shadow administrators and have the opportunity to discuss leadership and the responsibilities that come with being a leader.

Mortar Board seeks to foster closer relationships between students and administrative leaders and to highlight the outstanding student and administrative leaders on campus.

"I know that we as administrators have as much to learn from the students who will be shadowing us as we hope they will learn from our experiences," said Dr. Beth Hellwig, vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students. "I can't wait to find out which student leader I get to share the day with! I hope this year will be the beginning of many Leadership in Action days in the future."

Students must submit their applications by March 12. Mortar Board will choose students based on resumes and applications.

For the application and additional information, e-mail Mortar Board president Pat Delehanty or secretary Stephanie Schiefelbein at mortarboard@uwec.edu.
