EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer an ACT prep course this summer for high school students. Classes will be held on the UW-Eau Claire campus Aug. 2-12 from 9 a.m. to noon, Mondays through Thursdays.
The ACT Prep Course covers the five academic areas measured by the ACT: English, reading, mathematics, scientific reasoning and writing. Students take two official ACT practice tests and learn test-taking strategies for each exam section. Students also receive textbooks that are theirs to keep to study on their own.
Libby Thurston, UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education youth coordinator, believes the program serves a need in the community for additional college entrance test preparation.
"The ACT Prep Course is meant to be a cost effective option for students who need to review key concepts before taking the actual exam," Thurston said. "While some students opt to prepare on their own, others benefit from a more structured environment."
The ACT Prep Course tuition is $149, which includes instruction, practice tests, essay evaluation by UW-Eau Claire English faculty, and the ACT textbook.
