Forensics team places first in Twin Cities tournament

RELEASED: March 5, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed first in team sweepstakes and several individual events at the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament March 2 at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn.

Individual results are as follows:

Senior Whitney Zahn, Menomonee Falls, placed first in persuasion, qualifying for the American Forensic Association tournament in that event.

Senior BJ Pickard, Eau Claire, placed first in dramatic interpretation, qualifying for AFA in that event. He also took first in after-dinner speaking.

Sophomore Natalie Hunter, Vadnais Heights, Minn., placed first in poetry, qualifying for AFA in that event.

Junior James Kust, Eau Claire, placed first in impromptu speaking, qualifying for AFA in that event.

Junior Diane Stewart, St. Louis Park, Minn., placed second in persuasion.

Senior Laura Magnusson, Apple Valley, Minn., placed third in program oral interpretation. She also took sixth in prose.

Junior Kindra Kressin, Champion, Neb., placed third in prose.
