Still time to register for Financial Management Series

RELEASED: March 1, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — Seats are still available for the Financial Management Series presented by the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension. All workshops will be held from 6-9:30 p.m. in Room 179 of the Health and Human Sciences building on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

  • "Financial Accounting: Underlying Concepts" will be held March 4. It will cover accounting terminology and concepts; cash vs. accrual accounting methods; how business activities affect financial statements; how the four financial statements are related; how to interpret financial statements; approaches to recording information; and the role of financial statements in financial management.
  • "Financial Accounting: Using Financial Statements" will be held March 11. It will cover the need for analyzing financial statements; types of financial analysis tools; what financial rations can tell you; and how to interpret financial ratios.
  • "Managerial Accounting: Profit Planning and Budgeting" will be held March 18. It will cover the factors involved in forecasting; the process of budgeting; the purpose of breakeven analysis; and how the management tools relate to one another.
  • "Managing Cash Flow" will be held March 25. It will cover the relationship between income forecasts and cash projections; how to develop a cash flow projection; strategies to improve cash flow; and tools to diagnose potential cash flow problems.

The workshops are designed for small business owners and managers. The cost is $99 per session. A discounted rate of $360 is available for individuals registering for all workshops at the same time.
