Final week of Summer Events series to feature blues artist Keith Scott

EAU CLAIRE — A free outdoor show Aug. 2 by Chicago-area blues artist Keith Scott will highlight the final week of the Summer Events series at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Music on the Mall performance will begin at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin of Davies Center). The audience is invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. Free popcorn will be available.

Keith Scott has built a reputation as a sizzling blues guitarist, dynamic performer, noteworthy songwriter and bandleader over the past 20 years. He has toured throughout the United States, Europe and Canada, playing clubs and festivals both with his band and with blues great Jimmy Dawkins. A favorite on the college circuit, Scott has recorded five CDs of original material including blues, rock and acoustic music.

The Summer Events series also will present the following:

  • Dr. Mitra Sadeghpour Dr. Barbara Young
    Dr. Mitra Sadeghpour Dr. Barbara Young
    Soprano Dr. Mitra Sadeghpour, associate professor of music, and pianist Dr. Barbara Young, lecturer of music, will perform for the Summer Sounds series at 2 p.m. Aug. 1 in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The series of light classical concerts are presented in cooperation with the department of music and theatre arts.
  • The Fresh Start Farmers Mart will bring a sample of area farmers market offerings to campus Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon on the sidewalk north of Zorn Arena.

With the theme "Welcome to our Backyard," the Summer Events series is funded by the students of UW-Eau Claire and coordinated by the University Centers.
