Singer-songwriter Julie Rust to perform for Summer Events series

EAU CLAIRE — A July 19 performance by UW-Eau Claire music alumna Julie Rust will highlight the sixth week of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Summer Events series. Her free show will begin at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin of Davies Center). The audience is invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. Free popcorn will be available.

Julie Rust has been a performing songwriter for more than 20 years. She touches audiences across the United States with her soothing voice, honest lyrics and virtuosic piano playing. She enjoys sharing her music with others to promote love, healing and peace.

The Summer Events series also will present the following:

  • Cellist Paul Kosower, UW-Eau Claire professor emeritus of music, and pianist Dr. Owen Lovell, assistant professor of music, will perform works by French composers for the Summer Sounds series July 18 at 2 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of Haas Fine Arts Center. The light classical concerts are presented in cooperation with the department of music and theatre arts.
  • BareBones Ensemble Theatre will present an interpretation of Euripides' "Medea" for the Shakespeare and Others in the Park series July 21. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin of Davies Center).
  • The Fresh Start Farmers Mart will bring a sample of area farmers market offerings to campus July 22 from 8 a.m. to noon on the sidewalk north of Zorn Arena.

With the theme "Welcome to our Backyard," the Summer Events series continues through Aug. 5. A complete schedule is available online or at the Service Center, 715-836-3727. The eight-week series is funded by the students of UW-Eau Claire and coordinated by the University Centers.
