SUBJECT: Support for students who lost belongings in fire
Dozens of people have donated household goods, furniture and other items to the 15 UW-Eau Claire students who lost their belongings in a house fire earlier this month.
Members of the campus and Eau Claire communities were invited to bring donations to the Veterans Center in Room 20 of Schofield Hall through the end of the day Monday. A large number of items — ranging from bedding, cleaning supplies and housewares — were dropped off during the weekend.
UW-Eau Claire's Veterans Club members have assisted in sorting the items, and the students will pick up what they can use beginning at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Veterans Center.
All 15 UW-Eau Claire students who lived in the Niagara Street four-plex now have places to live, but most of them lost the majority of their belongings in the Jan. 13 fire. The students and Dean of Students office staff are appreciative of the overwhelming support and generous donations.
For more information, contact Dr. Marc Goulet, an associate dean in the Dean of Students office, at 715-836-2003 or deanofstudents@uwec.edu.
