Senior Americans Day set for March 30

graphic for Senior Americans' DayEAU CLAIRE — The 22nd annual Senior Americans Day will be held from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. March 30 in Davies Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The theme this year is "2010: An Aging Well Odyssey."

Keynote speaker Father Lawrence Dunklee will open the event with an address titled "Navigating Through the Obstacle Course of Life." He directs the Center for Spiritual Care and mission integration at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Participants can visit the exhibit halls and choose from more than 40 workshops on such topics as fitness, wine tasting, health issues, the outdoors, travel, scrapbooking and local history.

The cost of the program is $27 per person and includes materials, continental breakfast and lunch. Several breakout sessions have additional fees for materials.

Senior Americans Day is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension in cooperation with Grace Lutheran Foundation, St. Francis Apartments, the Aging and Disability Center of Eau Claire County, Community Health Partnership Inc., Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources, Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Sacred Heart Hospital, Milestone and Our House Senior Living. The event is planned by community representatives committed to the interests of older adults.
