Continuing Education to offer youth entrepreneurship program

RELEASED: Feb. 26, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer Generation Inc., entrepreneurial training classes designed to prepare high school students to start their own small businesses. Classes will be held Saturdays this spring, April 10-May 8, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Phillips Hall on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

Students will explore the kinds of businesses that match their interests and learn many aspects of business ownership such as product development, financing, marketing and selling. Local business owners also will share their experiences.

UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education youth coordinator Libby Thurston believes that Generation Inc. can teach students much more than how to start a business. "We're excited to see students work toward the goal of small business ownership," Thurston said. "But Generation Inc. will also build important life skills such as self exploration, goal setting and teamwork that can help teens achieve any future goal."

The cost for Generation Inc. is $49 per person. To register or for more information, call Continuing Education at 715-836-3636 or 866-893-2423, use the Wisconsin Relay System (711), e-mail ce@uwec.edu or visit their Web site.
