EAU CLAIRE — Ceramics students from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's art & design department will again help to fight hunger in Wisconsin.

The "Empty Bowls" fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. March 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd. in Eau Claire. The students are donating hundreds of handmade ceramic bowls for the fundraiser, which will benefit the Feed My People Food Bank.

Volunteers will serve locally made soup, specialty bread and desserts. This year's poster was designed by UW-Eau Claire graphics student Matthew Hutchison, Hudson.

The event, which is open to the public, is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire's Campus Kitchen and Art Student Association. Tickets cost $18 for a meal and a ceramic bowl or $8 for a meal only. Kids 10 and under will be admitted for free.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the UW-Eau Claire Service Center (715-836-3727 or 800-949-8932) or online at fmpfoodbank.org. Tickets also will be available at the door.

The Feed My People Food Bank is a food distribution center that supplies more than two million pounds of food each year to 73 pantries and agencies throughout west-central Wisconsin. Money raised through "Empty Bowls" will provide nearly 190,000 meals for families struggling with hunger.

For more information, contact Michelle Dingwall of Feed My People at 715-835-9415 or michelle@fmpfoodbank.org.
