EAU CLAIRE — Dave Rudolf's Beat the Winter Blues Beach Party — a comedy concert for families with kids of all ages — will be presented Feb. 25 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The interactive family show will begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.

Admission is free; cookies and punch will be served. Donations of nonperishable food items for local food pantries are requested.

Dave Rudolf's madcap theatrical production of songs, humor and heavy audience participation makes for an ideal family event. With hula hoops, bubble machines, beach balls, limbo, a conga line and much more, the show features Rudolf's original music and fun-in-the-sun favorites.

"The kids are part of the show, and the parents can do it, too," Rudolf said. "We do some goofy things to get everyone interacting."

"Dave Rudolf captivates his audience," wrote the Chicago Sun Times. "Anything and everything that happens onstage or off during a Rudolf concert becomes fair game for his disarming wit."

Rudolf is a Chicago-area singer, songwriter and children's book author who has entertained families and children with his wit and musical talent for more than 20 years. He has released 10 children's albums and has written songs for Disney — including the Winnie the Pooh album — earning a gold record and a Grammy Award nomination. His tunes have been featured on such diverse radio programs as Kids Radio, Dr. Demento and NPR, and Rudolf himself has appeared on national TV on "Bozo's Circus." As a performer he has opened shows for Cheech & Chong, The Beach Boys, Tim McGraw, The Kentucky Headhunters, Sha Na Na, the Gatlin Brothers and the Smothers Brothers.

A 15-time nominee for National Association of Campus Activities awards, Rudolf has received numerous awards from parent groups, including three Parents' Choice Honor Awards. His clean sense of humor and infectious energy captivates both kids and adults alike and allows both groups to lose themselves in an enjoyable feel-good experience.

"I love doing this," Rudolf said. "It's all about having fun."

The show is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
