High school students to compete in annual mathematics meet

RELEASED: Feb. 5, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — Students from 19 high schools will participate in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 28th annual regional Mathematics Meet Feb. 20 in Hibbard Hall.

Hosted by the UW-Eau Claire mathematics department, the event provides friendly competition for high school students with an interest in mathematics.

Contestants will compete individually and as parts of teams. Teams are divided into divisions based on enrollment size.

Competitors and team sponsors will receive T-shirts and certificates. An awards ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. in Room 100 of Hibbard Hall. During the ceremony, the top four winners in each division will be announced. The winners will be awarded UW-Eau Claire scholarships funded by a grant from Xcel Energy.

In case of bad weather, the meet will be held Feb. 27. For more information, call the mathematics department at 715-836-3301.
