Professional development series for sign language interpreters offered

EAU CLAIRE — A Professional Development Series for American Sign Language interpreters will be offered through the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW Extension. Continuing education units for the programs in the series will be awarded through the Wisconsin Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
The programs in the series are:
- "ASL-English: Interpreter Skill Development" will be held from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. March 20 in the Human Sciences and Services building, Room 177. Patty Gordon will be the instructor. The program fee is $99.
- "ASL Interpreting and More: How to Interpret the Paperwork, Navigate the Process, and Find Support" will be held from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. May 1 at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Julie O'Brien and Kristin Scheibe will be the instructors. The program fee is $99.
- "In the NIC of Time! Preparing for the NIC Interview Exam" will be held from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 17-18 at Sweetwaters Restaurant. David N. Evans will be the instructor. The program fee is $209 (or pay $389 for all NIC preparation programs June 17-20).
- "It Requires More Than Skill! Preparing for the NIC Performance Exam" will be held from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 19-20 at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Hilary Hardin will be the instructor. The program fee is $209 (or pay $389 for all NIC preparation programs June 17-20).
- "Mental Health Interpreting: A Holistic Model" will be held from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Sacred Heart Hospital Rotunda. Arlyn Anderson will be the instructor. The program fee is $99.
- "Peer Support and Consultation for Interpreters Working in Highly Charged Settings" will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 15 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Arlyn Anderson will be the instructor. The program fee is $49.
All program fees include RID CEUs, program materials and refreshments. Full-day programs include lunch.
