Forensics team takes second in Minnesota tournament

RELEASED: Dec. 13, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — Freshmen and sophomores of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Forensics team traveled to the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament, hosted Dec. 7 by Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn. They took second as a team.

Individual results were:
Freshman Jarrel Montgomery, Madison, placed second in dramatic interpretation. In persuasion, freshman Allie Lawler, Prior Lake, Minn., took sixth place.

Sophomore Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., took first place in poetry, qualifying for the American Forensic Association tournament.

In prose, freshman Allyson Thieme, Rib Lake, placed sixth, qualifying for the National Forensic Association tournament. Sophomore Megan Chilman, Le Sueur, Minn., placed fifth in the event. Lawler took third and freshman Danielle Bronshteyn, Elk River, Minn., took second. All of these competitors in the prose event qualified for the NFA.

"It was a great way to end the semester," said Karen Morris, director of forensics.

The UW-Eau Claire forensics team will resume tournaments in mid-January 2011.
