Tickets for Cabaret XXXIII now on sale

RELEASED: Dec. 10, 2010

Cabaret XXXIII PosterEAU CLAIRE — Tickets now are on sale for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 2011 Cabaret XXXIII show, "Broadcast."

Performances for the popular show are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20-22 and Jan. 27-29, 2011, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center. Matinees are scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 22 and Jan. 29.

Cabaret features student performers from ensembles in the music and theatre arts department as well as various small acts and solo performers. The concert will include performances by Concert Choir, The Singing Statesmen, Women's Concert Chorale, UW-Eau Claire jazz ensembles and the University Symphony Orchestra.

Cabaret XXXIII will be accompanied by the Cabaret Orchestra, made up of members of the UW-Eau Claire jazz ensembles, directed by Robert Baca, professor of music, and Dr. Jeffery Crowell, associate professor of music; and the University Symphony Orchestra, directed by Nobuyoshi Yasuda, associate professor of music.

Concert Choir and The Singing Statesmen are directed by Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, professor of music. Women's Concert Chorale is directed by Dr. Alan Rieck, associate professor of music.

Cabaret — the music and theatre arts department's largest annual production — has raised more than $250,000 to support ongoing scholarships for music students in the voice/choral and jazz areas. The production began in 1978 to provide experience for music and theatre arts students in arranging and staging a variety show similar to ones they might encounter in their professional careers. Today it is a student-run production.

Before the Friday and Saturday evening performances, a dinner buffet and cash bar will be available in The Dulany of Davies Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner and show must be purchased in advance.

Tickets for the dinner and show are $34 for the general public and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff; or $26 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and students with a university ID.

Show-only tickets are $20 for the general public and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff; or $12 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and students with a university ID.

Patrons with show-only tickets may purchase a la carte deli and dessert items and beverages from a cash bar in the Council Fire Room one hour prior to each show, with prices ranging from $2.50-$6.50.

For an informational brochure and ticket order form, contact the Service Center at 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, or visit the music and theatre arts department website to access an online order form. Forms may be mailed or dropped off at the Service Center. The show often sells out, so early ticket purchases are recommended.
