A delegation of 12 officials from seven Chinese universities and the China Center for International Educational Exchange will visit UW-Eau Claire Friday, Dec. 10. Their institutions all participate in the China 1+2+1 international student exchange program, as does UW-Eau Claire. The China 1+2+1 program allows students from China to earn dual degrees from U.S. universities and their home institutions in China. This year, UW-Eau Claire welcomed 21 Chinese students who are new to the program, bringing the total number of China 1+2+1 students on campus to 36. Members of the Chinese delegation are visiting UW-Eau Claire and other U.S. universities to learn more about their curriculums. For details about the delegation's UW-Eau Claire visit, including their itinerary, contact Shu-Chuan Cheng, Chinese programs coordinator in the Center for International Education, at 715-836-4411 or chengshu@uwec.edu.

Two members of the music faculty will release a CD of piano music with a major classical record label Jan. 1, 2011. "Portals and Passages," from Albany Records, features music written for solo piano by Dr. Ethan Wickman and performed by pianist Dr. Nicholas Phillips. Both are assistant professors of music at UW-Eau Claire. The CD has a diverse lineup of music Phillips describes as "alternately full of rhythmic intensity, exquisite lyricism, musical quotation and virtuosic writing for the piano," and includes a composition that begins with a lullaby theme written by Wickman's great-grandfather. For details, contact Dr. Nicholas Phillips at phillins@uwec.edu or Dr. Ethan Wickman at wickmaef@uwec.edu.
