EAU CLAIRE — The Nancy McKinley Scholarship, a new fund for outstanding University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire communication sciences and disorders graduate students, has been established with the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

The scholarship is named in memory of McKinley, an internationally recognized expert on adolescent language disorders, who was president and CEO of Thinking Publications in Eau Claire until her death in 2005. McKinley was a 1974 graduate of UW-Eau Claire and served as a clinical instructor in the department of communication sciences and disorders for 14 years.

Funds for the scholarship will be raised in conjunction with the Nancy McKinley Lecture Series, co-sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education and SpeechPathology.com. This online conference is designed for speech-language pathologists, educators, parents, human services providers and others who work with people with autism or Asperger's syndrome.

SpeechPathology.com, the company which provides the Webcast, will donate $10 of the $99 registration fee of first-time registrants to the Nancy McKinley Scholarship. The live virtual conference will be held in a series of one-hour sessions during the week of Jan. 17-21, 2011, and will be archived for later viewing. For more information about the lecture series or to register, visit the Nancy McKinley Lecture series website.

For those who are not first-time registrants to the lecture series but would like to donate to the scholarship fund, visit the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Making a gift website or call 877-625-2473. Whether you make your donation online, by mail or by phone, make sure to indicate the donation is for the Nancy McKinley Scholarship Fund.
