RELEASED: Aug. 25, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — A new short-term study abroad program to China will be offered to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students during the university's January 2011 Winterim session. An information session, to be led by Dr. Rama Yelkur, UW-Eau Claire professor of marketing and coordinator of international business programs, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.-noon Aug. 31 in Room 320 of Schneider Hall. The priority application deadline for students interested in the program is Sept 3.

The program will run from Jan. 3-18, 2011. Students in all academic disciplines who have a cumulative resident GPA of 2.3 or higher, are in good academic standing and at least sophomore standing are eligible to apply. Qualified students should print and complete the application form, and then submit it and other required application materials by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 3. Scholarships are available for the program.

"The study abroad program to China will provide our students with unique experiential opportunities that will supplement the classroom curriculum," said Yelkur. "It will better prepare them to function in a globally interdependent workplace."

More information about the program is available on UW-Eau Claire's Center for International Education website or by contacting Dr. Rama Yelkur at yelkurr@uwec.edu or 715-836-4674.
