EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer a fall ACT Prep Course on the UW-Eau Claire campus. The course, which will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 5-Oct. 17, offers high school students an opportunity to prepare for the fall and winter national ACT exams.
The ACT Prep Course covers all academic areas measured by the ACT: English, reading, mathematics, scientific reasoning and writing. Students complete two practice tests and receive in-depth instruction in each subject area. Students also have the option to write an ACT essay that is scored by UW-Eau Claire English faculty. All students receive a comprehensive ACT textbook that is theirs to keep.
UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education youth coordinator Libby Thurston believes the program serves a need in the community for additional college entrance test preparation.
"The ACT Prep Course is meant to complement shorter programs already offered in the community. It's a cost-effective option for students who need a little more review," Thurston said. "While many students opt to prepare on their own, some students benefit from a more structured approach."
The ACT Prep Course tuition is $149, which includes instruction, practice exams and the ACT textbook.
