SUBJECT: UW officials to discuss Board of Regents call for new state-UW System compact
Media representatives in western Wisconsin are invited next Tuesday to discuss the University of Wisconsin System's Board of Regents "Principles for Progress and Prosperity," which calls for a new compact between the state of Wisconsin and the UW System.
The event will be held from noon-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, in the Alumni Room of the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center.
The media will have the chance to discuss the document (available online) with various UW officials. Those scheduled to attend are Kevin Reilly, president of the UW System; Charles Pruitt, president of the Board of Regents; Aaron Wingad, a UW-Eau Claire student and member of the Board of Regents; Edmund Manydeeds, an Eau Claire attorney and member of the Board of Regents; UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich; UW-Stout Chancellor Charles Sorensen; and UW-River Falls Chancellor Dean Van Galen.
The proposal, written by Pruitt and former Regent President Jay Smith, calls for the state of Wisconsin to provide the UW System with stable funding, management flexibility and a commitment to expanding access. In return, the UW System pledges to provide that access, facilitate job creation, boost productivity and enhance quality across the system.
