EAU CLAIRE — A University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics student was one of two Wisconsin representatives who traveled to the 137th annual Interstate Oratory Contest April 22-25 in Norman, Okla.
Senior Nick Miller, Hales Corners, advanced to semifinals and then finals, and was named the 2010 Interstate Oratory Champion.
"Nick performed beautifully his oration on creating a national grid before the five lay judges brought in just to judge that final round," said UW-Eau Claire forensics director Karen Morris.
The IOC is the oldest intercollegiate forensics competition in existence. Miller joins a prestigious list of UW-Eau Claire alumni who have won the oratory contest since 1948. He is the eighth UW-Eau Claire competitor to win the title.
"What an amazing way to finally end not only the UW-Eau Claire forensics season, but also Nick Miller's forensics career!" Morris said.
