Forensics team places eighth in national competition

UW-Eau Claire forensics team
The UW-Eau Claire forensics team celebrates their eighth place finish in the NFA National Champsion.

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed eighth in team sweepstakes at the National Forensic Association National Championship April 15-19 at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Senior Nick Miller, Hales Corners, placed third in the nation for persuasive speaking.

Senior Dylan Jambrek, Waukesha, made it to the semifinals for extemporaneous speaking.

The following students made it to the quarterfinals:

  • Senior Whitney Zahn, Menomonee Falls, for rhetorical criticism.
  • Junior Holly Albers, Mazeppa, Minn., for informative speaking.
  • Sophomore Natalie Hunter, Vadnais Heights, for informative speaking and poetry.
  • Senior BJ Pickard, Eau Claire, for after-dinner speaking.
  • Junior Sarah Taylor, Merrill, for prose.
  • Jambrek for impromptu speaking.
