Musical events
for the week of April 26

RELEASED: April 22, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning April 26. All events are free and open to the public.

Monday, April 26:

  • Senior Rebecca Czachor, De Pere, will present a flute recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted on piano by senior Kristen Sward, Rochester, Minn., Czachor will present selections by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Yury Obyedov, Franz Schubert and Theobald Boehm.
  • Senior Naomi Hasan, Middleton, will present a violin recital at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted on piano by Judy Lies, Hasan will perform selections by Edward Elgar as well as by senior Alyssa Rae Severson, Eau Claire, and Petris Vasks.

Tuesday, April 27:

  • Senior Kelsey Seline, Eagan, Minn., will present an oboe recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted on piano by Anne Kubiatowicz and senior tenor Jonas Hacker, Lake Delton, Seline will present selections by G.F. Telemann, Camille Saint-Saens, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Joseph Haydn.

Wednesday, April 28:

  • The Flute Studio of Dr. Tim Lane, professor of music, will present a recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Fourteen music students will present selections by J. Donjon, Michio Miyagi, F. Kuhlau, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach and others.
  • The music and theatre arts department will present a student organization recital by the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. This year's theme is musical theater, with pieces by Kurt Weill, Georges Bizet, Jerry Bock, Stephen Schwartz and others.

Thursday, April 29:

  • Senior Nickole Burr, Menasha, will present a flute recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Assisted on piano by senior Kristen Sward, Rochester, Minn., Burr will present selections by Anna Amalia von Preuben, Camille Saint-Saens, Phyllis Avidan Louke and Philippe Gaubert. During the recital Burr also will be assisted by music students on piccolo, flute, alto and bass flute, and drums.
