EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire University Band, under the direction of Dr. Randal Dickerson, associate professor of music, will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. April 27 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The program will begin with "Star Wars Medley" by John Williams and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "English Folk Song Suite," conducted by senior Bryce Bielec, Apple Valley, Minn. Next will be "Elegy" by John Barnes Chance and "The Sinfonians" by Clifton Williams, featuring members of the Gamma Beta chapter of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity. The performance will conclude with "Rush" by Samuel Hazo.
Bielec is a music education major who was selected as student conductor for the University Band for spring semester. He has played trombone with the university concert bands, jazz ensembles and the Blugold Marching Band. Bielec hopes to teach middle school band upon graduation in May.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
